Dr. Mary Jo Gustin, DC
Dr. Gustin first became interested in healing and nutrition in 1975 when she suffered a disabling martial arts injury during a routine class. Not wanting to undergo surgery, she sought less invasive alternatives and found relief with chiropractic care. This not only enabled her to return to her previous active lifestyle, but Dr. Gustin achieved a greatly improved immune system in the process. “I became a well person again.” It was this transformation that would shape Dr. Gustin’s life choices from that realization forward.
Dr. Gustin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She decided to change careers in 1980 after experiencing such fantastic healing results from her chiropractic care. She returned to University study and went on to graduate in 1985 with Honors from the Southern California University of Health Sciences, where she received both a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and her Doctor of Chiropractic degrees.
Over several years of practice, Dr. Gustin's primary adjusting style transitioned into more specific and less forceful methods. In 1995 she earned her Post-Graduate Certification in Activator Methods Proficiency in adjustive technique and her Advanced Proficiency Rating in 2000. She has received ratings as a Disability Evaluator, a Back School Instructor, and a Radiography Operator. In 2008, Dr. Gustin received her Certification in Chi Herbal Supplements after studying under the world-renowned founder Tsu-Tsair Chi, M.D., Ph.D.
After establishing a full-service chiropractic practice in Temecula, CA, for 10 years, she moved to Keene, New Hampshire, where she established a second solo practice for 17 years. Dr. Gustin relocated back to her beloved Southern California and in 2015 she developed a one-of-its-kind OsteoBlast Osteoporosis prevention and treatment program at Pacific Coast Sports Medicine in Los Angeles. This program utilizes a number of Regenerative Orthopedic modalities, including the highly-researched bioDensity, the Power Plate, and the Korebalance. Lifestyle recommendations are also included in the program, emphasizing nutritional supplements and lifestyle changes.
Dr. Gustin has 2 adult children, holds a private pilot’s license, is a member of the American Chiropractic Association, the Arizona Chiropractic Association, the Christian Chiropractors Association, and the Academy of Complementary Integrative Medicine.
